Tableau 9.3 :Create Hierarchies for Drill/Down option

Step 1: Open you Tableau application.

Step 2: Go to datasource Tab and select the Data sources. In here im using Tableau sample Excel sheet(Sample - Superstore Sales (Excel)).

Step 3: Open you Excel file and display as below. You can see the tabs avaiable in the Excel sheet at your left hand side and drag and drop the required Sheet of the excel sheet.according to your data sheet, ypou can preview data from the bottom of the application.

Step 4: Then Click on the New worksheet button in the bottum bar.

Step 5 : We can see the Dimensions and Measures in Data Tab. Select all the dimension fields by clicking Ctrl key and right click on that. Then go to the Hierarchy manu and select create hierachy menu.

Then you can see teh created hierarchy in the Dimension area.

Step 6: Ten drag and drop created hierachy to columns area and can see the ‘+’ before the hierachy name. then drag and drop the Sales measure to Rows area. Report will be dispaly as below.

Step 7: if you need to  drill down, click on the ‘+ ’ sign in the colomns area and work sheet will be display as below.
